Your next Codex refresh is the time shown for the affected allowance in your signed-in Usage view. There is no shared Monday or midnight reset for every account. This page helps you read that personal timer; the live tracker answers whether a public reset was recorded today.

How to check your Codex reset time

  1. Open official Codex Usage settings on web, or Settings → Usage & billing in the desktop app. Check the correct account and workspace.
  2. Identify which allowance is exhausted. Read its next refresh time and time zone; another allowance may show a different time.
  3. In supported CLI versions, use /usage for account-usage actions; /status describes the current session. Fields vary by client and version.
  4. If access does not return after the displayed time, refresh Usage and save the error, timestamp and client version for official Support.

When does the Codex weekly limit reset?

Use the weekly time shown in your account, not a day-of-week rule. A weekly allowance and a shorter usage window can expire independently. When both apply, restoring one does not necessarily mean the other has refreshed.

Current allowances vary by plan. OpenAI’s pricing and usage guidance directs you to your account for limits and refresh times. Do not convert an estimated message count into a fixed entitlement.

Does Codex reset every five hours?

Some plans have a shorter usage window alongside another allowance; not every account uses the same arrangement. Read the specific window shown in Usage rather than assuming a universal five-hour grid.

Why did my reset time change after using a reset?

One-time resets can restart covered usage periods and change their next refresh time. A paid instant reset currently starts the new weekly period with the first Work or Codex request after application, rather than necessarily at the payment timestamp.

Why is my timer different from the public tracker?

Your personal window can refresh with no public announcement. An automatic or “global” offer can cover selected accounts and limits, while a banked grant may require redemption. The tracker cannot infer your private eligibility from a public event.

Check whether a public reset was recorded today, then inspect the original evidence. This is context for your account, not a replacement for its Usage display.

When is the next public Codex reset?

There is no guaranteed recurring public appointment. The next-reset outlook shows uncertain 24-hour and 48-hour estimates, not your personal countdown. Check the data timestamp and confidence, and read the forecast explanation.
